FOR a person who needs no introduction, she is far from the stereotypical celebrity. Stunning and in all ways pleasant, Carmen Soo is truly an epitome of humility.
Decked out in a grey blazer over a lighter grey sleeveless top, Carmen ticks all the right boxes and exudes all the qualities of the girl next door so adored by everyone. The 34-year old has been acting for the last seven years both locally and across country borders for television, and the big screen, leaving an impressively long trail of followers in Asia.
The youthful lass started conquering the eyes and hearts of many when she began modelling at the age of 17. A self proclaimed workaholic, the multilingual actress had always had her schedule packed with the hustle and bustle of activities. She took on her first part-time job at 14 while juggling with her studies and the countless school clubs she participated in. Those busy school days were just a telling of how diligent Carmen has always been with her time.
Her modelling career leaped to new heights as she, then 21, moved to Hong Kong for four years, and starred in commercials and music videos for the likes of pop idol Aaron Kwok and Jacky Cheung. Her acting career then launched itself to full force after she accepted a small role to act alongside film favourite Jackie Chan in Gorgeous (1999). She then ventured into theatre and silenced critics with a standing ovation from the audience for her commendable performance in the theatre production The Girl From Ipoh six years later.
